Lehlohonolo school started at Langa as Moshoeshoe school.
It was named after King Moshoeshoe and catered for Sesotho and Xhosa speaking learners.
The school was later moved to Nyanga East at Hlengisa Primary to accommodated more learners from the two groups.
The school refused to continue with Sesotho. The Basotho parents decided to go from house to house to compile a list of learners who can enroll at Sesotho school. They then approached the Education department to open a school for this group.
It was then that the birth of Lehlohonolo Primary was established in 1967. The first Principal was Mrs. Selebano, succeeded by Mr.Tloti , followed by Mr.Nolo and currently Mrs Zantsi.
The school started a partnership with Deutche Schule Kapstadt in 1977 whereby learners were sent to Deutche Schule for additional learning in mathematics and English according to their ability.
The school shared sport and Education amongst Learners and educators.
